My Top 10 Films
I love films,
My top 10 films in no particular order are;
HMS Defiant (1962) staring Alec Guiness, this film always reminds me of primary school which is when I first watched it.
Father's & Daughters (2015) staring Russell Crowd, I first watched this during the first leg of our flight to Dubai on the way to Mauritius. This film breaks my heart and makes me cry, it is beautiful and reminds me of my relationship with my dad.
Still Alice (2014) I am a massive fan of Lisa Genova who originally wrote the book Still Alice (2007) The film stars Julianne Moore as Alice Howland, a linguistics professor diagnosed with familial Alzheimer's Disease shortly after her 50th birthday.
Iron Lady (2012) There was never any doubt that The Iron Lady would be a controversial film. The mere mention of Margaret Thatcher, despite her leaving office over two decades ago, still divides the nation as it did when she was Prime Minister. I absolutely love this film, it's my go to for some reason. Meryl Streep’s performance is mesmerising, she makes it impossible for me not to be disturbed by her depiction of Lady Thatcher’s decline into dementia.
Labor Day (2013) mesmerising and utterly heartbreaking, love the script and always makes me cry. Staring Kate Winslet & Josh Brolin.
The Equalizer (2014), I am a massive fan of Denzel Washington and loved the original TV series. This is a neo-noir vigilante action thriller. I have watched it several times over.
American Sniper (2014) I love Clint Eastwood as a director. American Sniper is about Chris Kyle, who died in 2013 and was portrayed in the film by Bradley Cooper this has become the highest-grossing war movie of all time.
Carol (2015) staring Cate Blanchett is the story of a forbidden love affair that makes no apology for always offering up exquisitely observed minutiae from the early 1950s.
E.T (1982) I had this on VHS when I was younger and would attempt to watch it before school every day, it's an exciting sci-fi adventure film, it's a remarkable portrait of childhood, utter movie magic in my opinion.
Spotlight (2016) Boston Globe, under its first Jewish editor, out-of-towner Marty Baron, took on the entrenched abusive institutions of the church in a city where Catholicism is a way of life and police and priests are thick as thieves.
