Lindo and me
I’ve had a dog most of my adult life meaning that my wife and I have had a dog or two, for all of our relationship.
I know I am a dog lover.
My mini labradoodle Lindo, brings me so much joy, not only when things are going well, but also when I feel pain and I am suffering. It is true, they are mans best friend. Lindo is a faithful companion. Lindo knows when I want to play and mess around and she knows when I need a cuddle.
From mixed breeds to pedigrees, I’ve loved both my previous dogs Jasper and Maca and I love my little mini doodle. My wife and I find it comforting to have a dog around. The joy dogs provide is well worth the effort in the early days of training.
The dog love of my life was my little chocolate Labrador Maca. We lost Maca very suddenly and then Lindo came along, joined our family and helped bring us joy again.
As, I watch Lindo during the day she provides me with all many lessons about life it's actually scary coming from such a young dog. Lindo teaches me about how to connect with people, how to live for today, how to forgive, how to log back into my intuition, the importance of a balanced life, how boundaries help behaviour, Pack order and the excitement of life.
Lindo needs love, time and attention everyday. She needs my connection daily regardless of how busy I am.
Lindo lives for today, she has so much enthusiasm for life because she lives for today. I spend time worrying but it gets me nowhere, worrying will not change anything so it is actually a waste of time, energy and effort.
When Lindo spends time with other dogs in a pack as nature intended, they have no quarrels or conflict, as a pack they just move on and do not worry about yesterday or tomorrow. I believe this can teach me about forgiveness. Forgiveness gives me back my power, and helps me regain a sense of wholeness, peace, and gives me the ability to move on with my life.
Lindo understands what is going on beneath her surfce, she is led by her instincts and relies on her gut reactions. I have lost touch slightly with my intuition. I listen to words, but neglect my inner feelings. I often feel uneasy about certain situations, but I neglect what my body is telling me.
For Lindo to be happy, her life has to be balanced. Lindo needs exercise, love, and structure in her daily routine, and being honest so do I. When my life is balanced, stress fades to the background and I enjoy life that much more.
Lindo and I have a connected relationship, it started when she was a puppy, I gave her clear and consistent communication. Lindo knows this makes her happy otherwise, she gets confused about what is acceptable behaviour indoors and outside.
Lindo has a place in our pack, When dogs are given a job and contribute in some way to the well being of others they feel a sense of satisfaction. Lindo is happy and secure due to lack order. My wife and I, have a purpose as well.

Everyday to Lindo is Christmas Day, she spends nearly all day excited or asleep! Her main goal is to be as close to us as possible. Lindo can’t wait to eat, go for her walk, see one of us come home, or greet anyone walking by. My wife and I know that everyday can be special for us as well if we take the time to look, we may find our joy is still there waiting to be rediscovered.
Lindo is only 2 in human years, I look forward to watching her grow up and learn more from our relationship together.
