First Exchange through Chest Line July 10th 2017
Today, I underwent my first plasma exchange through my chest line at my local haemodialysis unit.
I haven't had plasma for a while so this was very much needed and we didn't know how the chest line would hold up but no problems at all.
I have never had plasma using this machine, and also never had the heparin we used today.
The heparin leaves an incredibly funny metallic taste in the mouth which I will need to get used too, I will try some boiled sweets, I also need to drink more as at Kings I am used to countless water and tea or coffee but tomorrow I will ask for some.
Today, I had 6 bottles in around 2.5 hours, we hope to get this time down as my line adjusts and my body adjusts to this machine and the heparin also used during the exchange as this machine can run a lot faster than the machine in Kings.
After the exchange today I felt incredibly poorly and came home and went to bed, I fell straight to sleep thank god as I have never felt so sick. Tomorrow I will discuss this with the Nurse and see what we can do to help, I think boiled sweets may not be enough to help.
