What is life about?
Today was the funeral of a friend from the Golf Club, he was 46 years old and left a wife and 2 young children. The service was beautiful, it was in a church well known to me because we had my best friend Gordon's services in the same place years ago.
This year I have attended countless funerals. It makes you really wonder what life is all about?
We wake up day after day and go to a job we can barely stand. Some of us might be in an unsatisfying relationship that’s on its last breath, but we can’t seem to let it go.
Maybe a few of us spend more money than we have, or we eat or drink too much because it’s the only thing that distracts us from the misery of life.
Whatever the distraction, being unhappy, and powerless to change this is a horrid situation.
During my early relationship with my wife we had some issues that seemed to bring my life to a screeching halt, I was devastated and at the time wanted to die. I felt completely lost and overwhelmed, it rolled over me in relentless waves.
The bottom had completely fallen out of my world. Obviously, I did not die. After crying countless tears and endless conversations, we worked things out, we found our way back together. I have found that trust and honest open communication heals everything.
I came through this stronger, I had learnt to take care of myself aswell. I learnt to try and make decisions, make decisions about my life based on what was right for me and for us.
In life, many of us expect others to make us happy and to fulfill our dreams when we actually have the ability to do it ourselves.
Relationships are so much healthier when you are happy in life.
Sometimes in life we need to take chances, risk failure, some of us may even find success. Some of us have limits, the limits we face are usually the ones we have placed on ourselves. We need to get rid of these limits because no-one is to blame other than us.
Today and the last three days having plasma has made me realize, the consequences of a life given away are greater than the consequences of living life on our terms.
Translated - When we live life on our terms, we gain more than we lose.
The last 7 years, I have met countless people while in hospital. Those most at peace were the ones who had faced their fears, who’d taken chances, while risking losing. Those in turmoil had avoided themselves, their pain, their fears, and their dreams. They stayed safe or distant and disconnected and regretted it in the end. They suffered as a result.
Life is an invitation to grow and to make a difference. You, like me are important. You, like me are needed in life. Don’t be the one dying with regret. Do not waste another minute being afraid to break out of your rut. Take a chance, Grab your life with both hands. Discover new passions, rediscover old ones.
Its your life so get a life..
Thanks Odette, I needed that ........ xx
